The iPhone 7 will be waterproof
The new rumors suggest that the iPhone 7 will be waterproof. Today when the competitors like Sony, Samsung and other rivals already have their flagship smartphones launched in the market, Apple can’t afford to not having new iPhone waterproofed. The tech giant needs to implement this technology to the new iPhone to stay competitive.
Apple has been ahead of the rivals most of the times when it comes to bring innovation with every new iPhone and if new iPhone 7 could be waterproofed to IP68 standards, it will again be a new innovation.
Normally the available smartphones are waterproofed to IP67 standards that mean they can resist water for 30 minutes maximum and if submerged within a depth of 1 meter only. This is the maximum time and depth that is specified in IP67 standards however the device may not resist water even for 30 minutes or 1 meter depth.
Samsung, Sony, HTC and Lenovo have number of waterproof smartphones already available in the market. Have a look at few devices that are waterproofed to IP67 standards:
Sony Xperia Z3
Sony Xperia Z3 compact
Sony Xperia Z2
Sony Xperia Z1
Sony Xperia Z1
Sony Xperia Z Ultra
Sony Xperia Z
Sony Xperia ZR
Sony Xperia Go
Sony Xperia M2 Aqua
Samsung Galaxy S5
Samsung Galaxy S5 mini
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
HTC Butterfly
Lenovo A660
Almost every new phone of Xperia series and every newly launched phone from Samsung is waterproof. Apple needs to make new iPhone (let it be iPHone 6S or iPhone 7) waterproof to IP67 standards atleast however if the company could make to IP68, iPhone 7 will be the first phone having such specification.
The iPhone 7 is rumored to be coming with many new features such as Holographic Projection, improved camera, wireless charging and if Apple protects the iPhone 7 as per IP68 standards, it will be an added advantage. In spite of such features, iPhone 7 will be priced keeping the rivals in mind as the company do not want their customers to switch to others because of overpricing.
